This iteration of an ongoing series of graduate diploma courses focuses on the use of artificial evolution in design strategies.
The first module will focus on beta-testing a Grasshopper component developed by Katrin Jonas (UCL/Buro Happold) dedicated to the approximation of a given surface with discrete geometry prior to its public release. We will also test a Rhino plug-in which applies a genetic engine to obtain different arrangement of a determined set of discrete geometrical families.
The second module will focus on the buildability of the results using precast concrete techniques.
