I went through this process a year ago, so I can share my experience. In fact, company formation in Latvia was easier than I expected. An EU citizen doesn't need to reside permanently in the country—everything can be done remotely through a trusted person or an online service. The main focus is on document preparation and choosing the right legal address. The registration process itself takes about a week if everything is prepared in advance, and delays are only caused by banking procedures.
