Text Tag/message balloon bugs?

I may have it all wrong, but when I bake the text tag and select a specific layer, the component bakes to the current layer in Rhino and not to the one selected in the bake option.

The message balloon feature is listed in my display, canvas widgets dropdown, but I cannot select it and it is not visible on my canvas widget.

Are these known bugs?

Is the message balloon still an option in the latest Grasshopper build? It still shows up in my canvas widget drop down but I cannot access it.

Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Rob,

yes, message balloons still exist. Provided the option is enabled (menu or Preferences), there is a warning or error and the zoom level isn't too small, they should show up.

What do you mean by "access" exactly?

Hi David, thank you for the quick reply. I cannot find where to access a message balloon, unless I am misunderstanding what a message balloon is I understand it as a method with which to label ones definition, and I believe I have seen the message balloons used in this capacity.

Hi Rob,

you are mistaken in that case. The message balloons are a quick way to access the warnings and errors that are thrown by components. You cannot set them yourself as a user.

What you're after is named groups. You can group components (Ctrl+G), assign a colour to the group, an outline type and also a name (via the group menu). If you provide a name then there will be a small tag on each group.

Wow, that was excellent regarding the text tag issue. How do we get the amended component, or do we wait for the next build of Grasshopper?

I feel I have been unclear with my original post, as I was in fact bringing up two separate points. The first was the text tag issue, which you have now resolved, the second was I am unable to find the message balloon item.

Thank you David, I understand I was mistaken. When I right click on the group I find no option to name the group. Where would I find the group menu?
