how to restrict a point inside a specified area?

hi, i was wondering if there was a way that i could specify a 2d area (say weird looking shape out of curves) then is there a way to restrict a point to only be allowed to move within that area? - like automatically limiting a slider value?

in the long term i want to be able to have multiple individual points inside that one area and have control over each one individually, however, if i alter the area in any way all of the points will automatically not be allowed to move out of that new area.
