Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi there,

I've been trying to generate an illuminance analysis on just site and the effect Im trying to get is that the mesh would ultimately replace the gridanalysis component as the new grid. I've checked everything but not sure why the analysis doesn't work at all?

Thank you!

I m not sure what you are trying to do. Do you mean you are trying to view the result on the rhino window?

and just looking to your image you need to set write and run to True.

Hi Mostapha,

I've set write and run to True and received error msg that reads 'cannot evaluate gradient with zero-length range' and i've checked the illumance value with panel - do you think that where the problem is?

Hi,

Thank you for your reply! What I'm trying to do is something that is similar to the sunlight study but with a more precise unit measurement (in which case I'm aiming for lux (luminance).

Thank you )

So I am assuming you are trying to do a grid-based analysis to get illuminance value during a certain hour, right?

After taking a quick look at your file, I believe there is something that would help.

1.)disconnect the fly to the ladybug_ladybug component.

2.) specify the grid size in gentestpts component.

3.)Grasshopper is default to run in meters, make sure your rhino is also in meters.

Hi there,

I've did the files again and still cannot get it to work. But the test points are working for sure - Would the problem be because the site for analysis is flat instead of internal spaces?

Thank you!

Could you upload your GH and rhino files please?

Willy

Hi Willy,

Here are the files. Thank you for your help!

i just check your files and I found a couple thing

1.) your grid size should be >0

2.) Try to assignment radiance materials to the surface (it would use default materials from honeybee, like roof, exterior wall)

3.) Make sure you time is set correctly (you have 1 am in your file, so there would be no light :) )

4.) I am not sure how your visualization works but I put two methods that would help visualize the results.
