calculate nearest point loop?

Hi. Although I'm not new to grasshopper but I am to the VB.NET component/scripting. I am taking an intro class right now in VB but it's very different than what I saw in the LIFT Primer! I am really…Continue

there HAS to be a better way to do this

Quick explanation of what I'm trying to do:I have about 160 "sets of points". Each set of point (with a varying amount) has a sphere fit to them, and then a circle is made with a varying radius to…Continue

"I just found the Kangaroo plugin that was posted last month. It doesn't look like I can immediately specify which layer the output is on but the functionality will certainly do for now!"

"yes, just preferably with the ability to have the objects only be on 1 specified layer (so in the example, all of the filtered through objects to be in the second curve set)"

Overlapping Objects

Hi - This issue just came up a second time for me in ~3 hours and after working on it for about half of that I figure I'd post it here. I have two sets of objects, two sets of curves in different modules; one has 50 curves, the other has 25. Some of the objects in each set overlap and are essentially duplicates of each other (but not every curve - The only thing that may vary is the color of the object but the coordinates are exactly the same). I'm looking for a way to isolate only the ones…See More

"You could stream a "panel" component as a .txt file and read that file in the other grasshopper file using the "path reader" component. You may run into some read/write errors though, but it should work most of the time. Better…"

David Rutten replied to nick axel's discussion cross-file receiver?
"Ok, Grasshopper does use additional memory, and the more data you have in your Grasshopper window the more memory will be used. But when you imagine a receiver component that works across multiple files, it presumes both files are active, otherwise…"

"Hi Nick, this is not possible at present, and I'd rather fix the crash bug than supply this feature. Are you crashing because you are running out of memory? If so, then how does splitting a single file into two pieces help, if they both need…"

cross-file receiver?

I've heard that it's possible to somehow link external data sources (processing, xls files, etc) to grasshopper. I'm wondering if there is a way to connect one grasshopper file to another through a receiver? My reasons for asking is that I have two large files that sometimes cause memory exceptions and crashes to happen; the second file is based on the data created in the first. What I have been doing is baking the first file for use in the second, but then every time I change something in the…See More
