LEDAS Assemblies / Driving Dimensions

Hi David,Will GH be able to talk to the new LEDAS' plugin?I think the plan is that there will be Rhino elements / subelements that will be driven by 'driving dimensions'. It would be good if GH can…Continue

Collaborative or Distributed Scripting, anyone?

Has anyone have any experience of collaborative or distributive scripting?Grasshopper + GC has a reputation for being very dependent on lone 'scripters' that the wider team is very dependent on.I am wondering if there is anyone out there who have built up code libraries that are (re)used in house for large projects, for example.Does anyone try to streamline data types? For example facade panels will come up again and again. It would be useful to use the same naming convention and minimum…See More

Other interesting Revit development using Python. Kind of like Yeti for Rhino. DesignScript is also supposed to be open for integration into Revit.   OpenShapeFActory on OpenCascade   There are other visual programming tools in the…

Maybe useful as a bridge between grasshopper and Revit. Convert GH script to Dynamo to Revit....?

Maybe, but at some level the DNA needs to be 're-combined', 'spliced' or otherwise modified in terms of what they express.... in Euclidean space or some other frame of reference.

Sounds intriguing..... Any examples of this?

Hi NaN,   Interesting request. I am intrigued by the mixing of GH script based geometry and the traditional 'point and click' direct modifications that you are grappling with.   I am not sure what you mean by…

Seems like the Geometry Cache has developed in very promising ways!   Question: Can the Geometry Cache (GC?) be combined with Clusters?   One problem I notice in the office is that a lot of competition teams do not use GH or any…

Yes. VRay's Proxies are interesting. I think the hack is that it works directly with the GPU, and sends the info straight to the graphic pipeline, and is able to handle much larger scenes. Optimised for many parallel…

Interesting range of options:   1. Volatile: some info not available for tool tips and previews. Would be interesting if the amount or type or info could be defined by the user.   2. Geometry Cache: with a DataTree to index things.…

Not sure how the baked geometry lives on in your project. can you expand?   In catia, the user is encouraged to think seprately in terms of specification (parametrics) and brep (resultant or baked geometry). The user can reference…

dominic replied to Boyd Johnson's discussion 'Beyond BIM: transitioning from 3D Generative/Parametric design to the industry (2D?)'
Has anyone checked out RhinoBIM?   It has a GH plugin for analysis, but does not seem to have much parametrics. It also seems to be bundling VisualARQ in as part of the package. I don't think there are very well integrated at the…

Hi Santiago,   Thanks for the reply. Looking forward to the nest instalment. Placement of these within assemblies in MCAD is a product of matrix transforms and persistent constraints. There is no bi-directional link, the link is…

Hi Santiago, OTOH, I am quite interested in how tools like GH can be more efficient, especially in real world professional settings, where the 4hr-Revit v 16hr-GH disparity applies way too often. This is not about which tool is better at this…
