"In Grasshopper you have a button that looks like a fried egg. Select the components in Grasshopper that contains the model you would like to render, click the fried egg-button to bake that to actual Rhino geometry which you then can render."

"There is a shade preview component which by default gives you an apple green colour which you can change using another component. It is not brilliant but I think it will take too much resource if a full blown rendering process is used."
