Pattern on a polysurface

Hi all...I am trying to wrap a spiral form around an organic shape tower, so as  to get the effect in the attached image.I generated the spiral by using a "series" component to generate points, then…Continue

Hi Zayad, Depending on how you create your polysurface you could, for instance run the creasesplitting command (plug-in for V4 and built in in V5) so you end up with a more complex single surface. Obviously there will be cases (quite  alot,…

That is exactly my problem in breaking the polysurface. Once you do that, you lose the continuity of the pattern, especially if you want to introduce variation within it with an attractor. So how to get around this issue, especially that most of…

Arend replied to Zayad Motlib's discussion 'Pattern on a polysurface'
The problem is that most patterns work with an uv-layout over the whole of one surface. A possible solution is to explode the polysurface (BREP) to seperate faces and use those to add the pattern to it. However: often this will have some unwanted…

Pattern on a polysurface

Hello all..Definitions for creating 2D or 3D pattern on an object seem to work only when this object is made out of one surface. The well known definition is to create the surface domain, subdivide it and morph the pattern on it. The minute the object become a polysurface, the definition stops working. Is there any solution to proliferate a pattern on a polysurface with GH?many thanksSee More

Hi Martin; Thank you for this.  I actually wanted the component to follow the diagonal lines I had on the surface, and not the bounding boxes which follow the UV directions. Is is possible to create bounding boxes following those diagonal…

Morphing a component around an organic form

Hi all;I am trying to morph a component around an organic form as per the attached file. The way I am going about it is to subdivide the surface domain, then create a bounding box for the cells, with 2 attractor curves to scale the component down towards the ends. It works fine.My question is: can I have the component to morph diagonally on the surface, say following the diagonal lines there, and still vanishes towards the ends?, Or can I morph it to follow a diamond pattern, and not just…See More

Thanks Damien for the elaborate answer. It clarifies lots of my issues too regarding which language to focus on that will be more useful to write components in GH. I guess the main question remains why do we need to learn any language? for what…

Hi DeDAckel; Can I use the center of the diagrid on this organic form to morph an object on it. I am trying to get the center of an object to morph into the center of the diagrid, while the boundary of each diagrid cell to be the bounding box for…

No problem DeDackel. Enjoy your holiday. Anyone there to help me with this definition please?, I think I need to match the spiral domain with the organic form domain, so that the spiral does not go beyond the surface boundaries of the organic form,…
