Discussion that might be useful, though it may also be related to Giulio's suggestion: http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/convert-nurbs-curve-to-arcs

Hey Jes, I have something for you. Maybe you can adapt to your problem. Basically I changed an old costum component (I have placed it here a while ago) which turns an spline into an number of arcs. I just put some components in it to change this…

Oh I think I understand now the '5 unique arcs' constraint, in the sense that they will be then used several times. I do not not have specific Galapagos suggestions about this, though... - Giulio________________giulio@mcneel.com

Hi Giulio, how are you? I did see that command which is not far off. However, with that I have no way of controlling the amount of unique arcs. As this will eventually become curved glass panes, I think someone would like me to optimize that further…

Hi Jes, maybe this is not sophisticated enough, but did you see the _Convert Rhino command? - Giulio________________giulio@mcneel.com

Arc fitting a spline

Hi all.It seems to me that this is not an easy one.I have a given spline. I would like to create a series of lines and arcs that approximates that spline. This is a baselilne of a curtain wall that I need to optimize a tad.My constraints are.1) I would like to limit the number of unique arcs. (five for instance)2) Line segments should be a set lenghtI could only see this happening with something such as an evolutionary algorithm.. Any suggestions or hints to how to make one, or does anybody…See More

I made a thread last week about this problem. I have made a different approach to the problem after I posted but the last issue is still the same. http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/few-problems-with-interpolating-wave   Thank you for…

hi jes, so the best is to convert in to brep and use the faces like you are using surfaces   List<Brep> my_breps = new List<Brep>();    my_breps.Add(surface_in.ToBrep());   …

Hi Oliver, could you start a new thread and there upload a sample of what you are trying to do and what instead you are getting? Thanks, - Giulio _________________ giulio@mcneel.com McNeel Europe

Hello Giulio!   Thank you for the tip but it does not take me where I want. I believed that when a surface is untrimmed the uv-coordinates are mapped to the new untrimmed surface. As i'm building a component which is placed in different…

Hi Mania, untrimm is a component you can find in SUrface -> Util -> Untrim (you need a recent version of Grasshopper) - Giulio_________________giulio@mcneel.comMcNeel Europe

Hi Giulio, And where in the grasshopper is the Untrim surface? do you know? will the Untrim option rebuilt the UV of his trim surface? Best Mania

There's an Untrim component now. Do you think that it might help? Thanks, - Giulio_________________giulio@mcneel.comMcNeel Europe

Hello Jes. I'm actually trying achieve what your problem caused. But my skills in C++ are quite poor so I'm wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing you code or helping me a bit? What i'm seeking is a module which takes the trimmed…

Here it is in the XZ plane if that's what you mean.  I just disconnected the y point inputs and reconnected to the corresponding z inputs.   Chris
