"I don´t give up-no retreat, that´s not an option:-) I´m using Vray so i have to push the contrast in PS. It looks not bad at all...very close to my idea. The picture just exists out of the dotshadows. big thanks to you…"

"Henry The first definition does not even require cone-shaped volumes. Circles will also make it. If you really want to experiment try to render it with highly transparent material that cast shadows or extract shadow channel from your rendered image.…"

"Hi Piotr well i had the same thought. i inverted image and run the definition again. so the dots and the background could be white an the image of MM is just the result of shadows from the dots.  but it isn´t recognizable like the…"

Piotr replied to Henry's discussion image sample problem
"Hi Henry Actually I think the whole definition should be inverted. Initialy you wanted to create this image by dropping shadows but what you have is no volumes at dark areas. Simply invert in Photoshop MM image (ctrl +I) and then run GH definition…"

"mh yah i used two lights so there are some shaodows but the background has to be grey shade otherwise the image looks like a negativ. do you have some proposals what i could try to make it more dramatic?"

"So here is an image. the definition works fine-thanks Danny! But why have your red dots different height? I just want to try it with different height to see how it looks but even without a constant input to the L of the SDL component the height is…"

Danny Boyes replied to Henry's discussion image sample problem
"Just have a constant input to the L of the SDL component to get the same height across the board. You will probably need a maximum component after the division so that you prevent the cones having no thickness at all."

"Good morning Nope that is going into the right direction. the elements could have a different radius a the base! thats fine. but the height of the cones should be the same and fixed. so if i change the grid extension the cones should scale with it…"

"Danny It's quite clever but I think Heni wants evry element to have he same radius at the base of the volume or am I wrong ?"

"How about this as a different approach for creating the truncated cones  1) Create an Axis Line in the centre of the Cone (SDL) 2) Move the End Points of the Line to the form the edge of the cone. 3) Revolve around the axis 4) Cap "

"Hi Henry Use loft instead of extrude.  Exchange height of extrusion with a loft distance or size of the upper circle (or both). That would be my approach. Piotr"

Henry replied to Henry's discussion image sample problem
"the circles of the image sample defintion should be extrude like little dot´s something like this...but i just get it to extrude to cylinders. i would share the definition but i forgot in the office- will post it tomorrow! "
