The genetic algorithm component galapagos- part of the grasshopper program by David Rutten- was used. The "genes" were the location of the 13 vertices and the rotation of the form. The "fitness" function is described by the maximal surface irradiation per unit volume. This was calculated using the GenCumumlativeSky program which is part of Radiance and accessible through DIVA.
