One of the main contributions of this work is to explore how a physical environment can change its shape in response to the behavior of users. The central focus is the relationship between materials, form and interactive systems of control. It is an attempt to explore how simple elements in our surroundings can change their physical configuration as we interact with them. The installation will consist of ‘skin’ (Spandex), ‘bones’ (aluminum strands), and ‘muscles’ (shape memory alloy springs) augmented with a ‘brain’ (Arduino micro-controller, and Kinect ).

Thanks to my friends:
Xiaoxiao Dong (Sasha)
Sanaz Khosravi
Setareh Ordoobadi
Anshul Pendse
Malika Lim
Chia-ching Yang
James Hughes choreography in space tag:www.grasshopper3d.com,2012-12-31:2985220:Video:757757 2012-12-31T21:34:50.822Z behnaz https://www.grasshopper3d.com/profile/behnaz

Alloplastic Architecture is a project by USC Post Professional MArch student, Behnaz Farahi, involving an adaptive tensegrity structure that responds to human movement. In this video a performance artist, Nicole Ives, dances with the structure that reacts to her presence without any actual physical contact. A Kinect motion sensor device tracks the movement of the dancer, and thereby reconfigures the entire structure through the use of an Arduino control board and Shape Memory Alloy [SMA] springs. The project was supervised by Alvin Huang, Neil Leach and Michael Fox.
