Weaverbird - mesh topologies in Grasshopper

Topologies in Grasshopper

Weaverbird is a plug-in for topological transformations in Rhino 4.0 and Grasshopper 0.8. It helps smoothing, modifying and preparing meshes for rapid manufacturing technologies from within Grasshopper.

Contains these commands:

  • Catmull-Clark smoothing
  • Split mesh into Quads
  • Loop smoothing
  • Split mesh with inner face
  • Sierpinsky Triangles subdivision
  • Frame
  • Sierpinsky Carpet
  • Window
  • more...

Hi Johnny, the picture above is taken from a definition that comes with the installer. You can find this folder in the Windows Start menu. It's called extrusions.gh. - Giulio

Hey guys, i know its a long shot to ask this question here, ive been experimenting with GH for abit now and have just gotten weaverbird having lotsa fun with it. However, just wanna ask you guys how to i turn meshes into solids? like the model above? i've gotten around wbframe and catmull, but ive only got a flat mesh surface. how do i add depth ? extrude? thanks in advance! great work Giulio!

Thanks Giulio! This is really amazing and usefull.

Thanks Giulio.
I want to apply one texture on the whole mesh which is what usualy happens when you make a delaunay mesh (image below) but when i use Weaverbird to subdivide the same mesh the texture suddenly applies to each individual meshes.

This is what i mean btw:

Hi Giulio,
When i bake and try to render the mesh it seems to be loosing it s original texture information (similarly to when you rebuild a mesh).
Is that something that can be fixed ?
thanks,
Arthur

Mh, sure... there's the example definition for this already coming with the installer, but if I can manage to overcome my shyness I'll make a video, too. :) - Giulio

It would be great if you could post a video tutorial of how you used Weaverbird to make the surface above :)
