JOB OPENING: Designer - Advanced Design Technology

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

Works directly with the Design Director. Responsible for development and integration of advanced design technologies into projects while managing own time consistent with project schedule.  A Junior Designer  with emphasis on design technology is expected to use news type of architectural technology to introduce new method into the task of design analysis and interpretation.

 

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include the translation of concepts into digital designs, concept development, physical and virtual model making, presentation material development and design research. The position is also responsible for assisting and compiling project documents associated with concept development process.

 

Secondary duties include the preparation and production of meeting material; product and material research; maintaining product binders, project binder and project files; providing administrative assistance to team and participation in design reviews and team meetings.

 

Design Team – Junior Level

  • Adept at modeling of primary building      elements – walls, floors, roofs, doors, windows. 
  • Disciplined focus on wall orientation      (interior/exterior) and Location Line settings for development from      Generic assembly.
  • Able to follow SA Guidelines.
  • Able to create parametric and solid models      for integration into REVIT models.
  • Able to create new façade content based on SA      Start Families (basic windows
  • Able to track model information (using      schedules to spot check data in tandem with model element creation)
  • Able to create/manage basic documentation      development – create views, manage graphics on views, create sheet layouts
  • Able to map and track detail references      throughout concept development
  • Knowledge of Fabrication and CAD/CAM      assemblies
  • Able to create interactive elements in to      project designs

 

 

Requirements:  

  • 0-3 years of relevant industry experience in Architecture or Engineering
  • Proficient in the use of Rhino3D, Grasshopper, Energy modeling, RhinoCAM and Revit modeling
  • Proficient in use of Maxwell Renderer or V-Ray
  • Experience combining/linking models from multiple disciplines
  • Ability and willingness to learn new programs as required by individual projects.
  • Familiarity with calculation capabilities of Rhino and Revit Architecture and interoperability between Revit and other software programs.
  • A degree in Architecture, Engineering or equivalent experience required.
  • Experienced with interactive projects using Arduino, Firefly, and Script language.

 

Qualities:

  • Familiarity with working in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction environment under deadlines and with multiple disciplines contributing to BIM models.
  • Good communication skills are essential for team-based working and for teaching others about best practices in the BIM environment.
  • Oral and written English skills sufficient to produce coordination assessment reports for the client
  • Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent team leadership, consensus-building, and creative alternative-generation skills for driving to solutions with team buy-in, while listening for needs of each individual discipline.
  • Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges.
  • Able to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines
