algorithmic modeling for Rhino

The OFFSET component does not work properly for closed curves. Offsetting is only possible towards the outside of the curve.

thank you for you answer tom.
i gave it a try and it has definitely something to do with the curve direction.

but even with one polyline it is only possible to offset the curve to the inside if the control points are in a clockwise order. if they are not its not working. thats not very logic.

in my case i generated some (a lot) of polylines from the vertices of a triangular mesh. i don't see how to change all the curve directions in the "right" way.

it would be definitely nice if the the offset component had the ability to align this curve directions or to deal somehow with this problem.

Hi
to make sure that the offset works proper you have to check that the curves have equal curve directions.

it is still bugged in gh080003. like peter said offsetting a closed curve to the inside / with a negative offset distance doesn't work in the most cases.

It's still bugged for me (tried the 80002)...

Hallo Peter

with the new GH080002 (released 19112010) should this problem be fixed

david....Fixed a core SDK problem with the curve offset algorithms.
