CEILING CLOUD wins First Prize in AA|FAB Awards

The AA|FAB Cluster at the Architectural Association organizes a competition to award new projects that employ digital design and fabrication in innovative ways. The parametric suspended ceiling system that Joe Meppelink and I developed with an exceptional group of students at the University of Houston College of Architecture 5500 Studio and DigiFAB with Scott Marble as visiting critic and Rajaa Issa as PT and GH instructional consultant impressed the jury who… Continue

surface with two arcs sharin one pt

Hi there I`m tryin to create a panelized surface with the tringaulation component - using all single 4 corner pts of a pattern to create surfaces.

pretty easy

further on i had the intention not only to use lines creating hard edged triangels but arcs to give those forms a smoove shape.

my problem now is that i couldnt find any possibility to build a triangle with two arcs and one line.

the only way to get my forms smoover was to extrude an arc onto one point.

Sliders and expressions

I finally figured out that the variable to use in a slider's expression is the name of the slider itself. Unfortunately, changing the name of the slider does not seem to automatically update the variable.

Spatial curves

Objects distributed along spacial curve

minU - minimal U value

maxU - maximal U value

dens - curve density (number of objects along curve path)

VB Code

(creates a list of points for calculations)

Sub RunScript(ByVal minU As Double, ByVal maxU As Double, ByVal dens As Integer) Dim uStep, i As Double Dim rv As New List(Of Double) uStep = (maxU - minU) / dens

For i = minU To maxU + 0.0001 Step uStep

wireframe modelling

Hi there,

Just to share with you; a parametric model of the temporary cardboard bridge I designed fir Shigeru Ban at the pont du gard. The wireframe is supposed to go to the structural engineers directely.

It's my first attempt in grasshopper, so any comments on efficiency or further possibilities of the script are welcome.

I wish to implement a horizontal scale factor, for instance, so the structure becomes wider at the fixations only. How to do… Continue
