Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

We wanted to create a waffle that was larger than our lasercutter could cut. So although its hard to tell each of the long sections is alternativly split. Much like a finger joint. So this waffle is around 1m long from an A2 lasercutter.

Nick,

I am working on a similar structure in grasshopper, and i have managed to model it but the joints were not joined like in your definition. Can you please post a higher resolution image of the definition or the GH file so that i can study it. that will be very helpful. thank you.

From that image its hard to tell what the problem is, i would recommend posting on the forums, including the actuall file. The grasshopper community is very helpful! At a guess it sounds like you need to flatten your list, if each strip is only getting a single notch.

There are also many ways to do anything in grasshoper, your script looks like a different method to mine. This is a sheet that i made as part of a project that explains how the fingerjoint idea works:

I have just completed all the tutorials and have completed some basic solid waffles.

I'm not strong in math so, slow learning. I do CNC cutting all day on as I'm a job shop.

I look forward to this type of artwork in CNC cutting.
