Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

moving to digitizing my Specialized AWOL bike and experimenting with fairings from 4mm coroplast. I develop the 3D shape and then smash it. Sometimes it works but I need other ways to convert 3d shapes to flat shapes.

Thomas, I'll check out ZZipper, thanks!

I'm not a grasshopper user yet. I need to spend a lot of time to understand how to use it. It would be very useful but is way over my head at the moment. I flattened the main fairing easily in Rhino (smash) and it came out as planned. It just caught too much wind to be safe on a 2 wheeled bike.

Thanks for your help and suggestion

David

by the way, do you know the ZZipper products?

Hi David

if the material doesn't stretch then you have to make more panels. I am currently developing a Grasshopper plugin to manufacture 3D shade sails. If you send me your GH file, I can try to apply my flattening algorithm to your shape.
