ich habe auch eine frage an dich: ich wusste zu gerne, ob patrik irgendwo den begriff der avantgarde "explizit" definiert habe. die frage klingt sonderbar, weil alles was patrik schreibt, ja etwas mit der avantgarde zu tun habe. ;)

ich habe auf seine webseite seine texte angeschaut, aber einen expliziten begriffsbezeichnung habe ich (noch) nicht gefunden. was ich gefunden habe, ist vergleichbar mit dem verweis von Niklas Luhmann:
"Die ganze Avantgarde hat ja eigentlich immer den Kunstbegriff reflektiert, ist an die Grenzen dessen gegangen, was noch als dazugehörig erwiesen werden kann. Das ist erst jetzt mit der Postmoderne anders geworden. Aber damals war wirklich der Versuch da, etwas quasi außerhalb zu machen, was aber trotzdem noch als Kunst erkennbar sei."

-ich würde die qualität von parametrizismus an der bestimmung der avantgarde messen-

p.s. die frage ist gerechtfertigt, da parameterische arschitektur = parametrizismus = avantgarde. ;)

you can find here (www.openprocessing.org) processing scripts that can help you to start. With regards to how to use it in architecture, the most important think is how you interpret the script in architecture. How you translate the system that you've created with your script into architectural system. How relations developed trough the script become meaningful relation in architecture, and of course the relevance of using that particular script for your particular situation. Is important to point out that first comes the architectural idea...and based on that you develop the script. Computers, and maybe I can say that also the script (tool) are the most stupid mechanisms. In order for them to do something you must specify precisely what to do.

And back to interpretation of the script, that's why you will find many cool projects that have very basic scrips but still are valid in terms of architecture. What makes the difference is the way you interpret that basic-intermediate - or advance script in architecture. Everything else falls into "geek" or just another scripting guy...but definitely not an architect

Comment by dani bolojan on June 8, 2013 at 9:23am: hmm...there is an entire discussion on this topic...personally I believe that the reason why parametric architecture is so blamed in our days is because many times "parametricism is misused " the geometrical complexity dose not support the architectural complexity...or in other words

1.you cannot increase the geometrical complexity without increasing the architectural meaning...

2.you cannot assign like mad "gradients" into a parametric model, without dealing with a sort of architectural gradient like, transition space for example, or transition from one program to another...there should be a valid meaningful architectural criteria that represents the main driven force of the "parametric model"

..so to conclude I will say that any "parametric work" that fails to be a valid architectural work is not a good ones....definitely could be only sculpture, and a good one actually... but not a valid piece of architecture

and to close on a more positive tone... I believe that used properly a parametric model, is able to respond to present multi-layered and increasingly complex relationships architectural system, in a meaningful correlated way...
