Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I played around a little with Galapagos, I love it already! The attached definition is placing circles around another circle. It tries to minimize the gaps between the circles and at the same time it tries to get the total area of the outer circles equal to the area of the inner circle. It usually ends up on 15 circles but not always. The further it goes, the more reluctant will it be to change the number of circles. There is a slider called "Koefficient" to adjust the priority between the two goals.

Your definition doesn't load with all the wires attached... I've got everything hooked up except the relationship between the two goals and the koefficient. Can you post a screen shot of that little gem?

I've just got galapagos up and yours is the first demo I'm going to run before I start to explore it myself. Thanks!

Paolo, I'm glad you found it useful. Yeah, it's tricky to understand how galapagos works (I don't), but because it's so easy to set up, you can just start experimenting...

very useful, thanks for sharing the definition, I'm a bit scared of Galapagos because I have not understood how it works.
