algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I used minimal surface method to create some geometries. For further pictures and images please visit.(anyone can download it without asking.) http://issuu.com/kao.gene/docs/portfolio

the rhino&grasshopper definition file I used can be downloaded here, please have a try :)

(you have to first download battery written by CERVER.org- Minimal Surface Generator (2.0.0.0) here is the link:

sorry I accidentally removed it, try this link.

However, this is with older grasshopper version, probably won't work on the newer released, haven't try it recently.

what is minimal surface method?

Comment by Michael Pryor on January 28, 2012 at 9:46pm

yea I just removed evalbox only for voronoi, since it does not work.

Comment by Gene Kao on January 28, 2012 at 9:34pm

yap, the problem may has something to do with algorithm of surface and brep(I know nothing about it). It works well with all the "same boxes" side by side matrix.

The replacement evalbox with volume can work in any situation, but the only disadvantage is the parameter is removed :)

I replaced evalbox with volume and it seems to return much cleaner results

its because .5,.5 is exactly the middle of the surface, when its put to say .4,.4 I have a feeling the surface directions are not the same, this I don't know how to fix, but I don't think its that important, nice exploration.

Comment by Gene Kao on January 28, 2012 at 5:15pm

yes Michael you are right, the borders don't match when it's not .5, .5.

Still have no idea how to fix it...

Comment by Michael Pryor on January 28, 2012 at 2:08pm

got it, my points were off .5,.5
