Comment on: Topic 'Stepwell'
It's name is Chand Baori; if you Google that name you will get lots of info about it.  The stepwells are made from rectangular blocks of stone and their outside shape is square, not round. The stone blocks vary in size, but are arranged so that they make equal sized steps. My guess is the easiest way to model a stepwell would be to do it one layer at a time using same sized rectangles. But you'll probably need some programming logic to control the number of blocks and their correct placement so that the steps are formed properly. Chand Baori is unusual in that one side of it was built as a summer residence for the current ruling family. You probably would not want to try to model this part of it.…

se three files below, the prefix has to be the same. see example. Main file: counties.shp Index file: counties.shx dBASE table: counties.dbf I suggest check your source again whether the main file might be forgotten. Hope this helps, please let me know PS: I am almost done with the components that parses geojson file types (other very common gis data type) and converts shape files into kml (google map files) …

Comment on: Topic 'Mapping Existing Uneven Breps onto a Geometry'
ssible pieces are used. (b) the sum of the used breps (i.e. pieces) "engulfs" the target brep as "closely" as possible ... yielding as minimum "gaps" as possible. Is this description correct? BTW: Orienting them without taking into account the whole collection means nothing: this is a freaky 3d packing puzzle so to speak (Google: bin packing to get the gist of "normal" similar solutions that are highly on demand these days), BTW: Is rather most unlikely that you can solve this without coding ... but let's pretend that you can.  …

Comment on: Topic 'Running Grasshopper on parallels with macbook pro windows side'
nd not macs though. My MacBook Pro runs with win8, as I couldn't get the free win10 upgrade to work. You will have to google if all Mac drivers are out for win10. I installed it first on my boot camp and then imported it into wm ware. Performance was fine but I ended up with parallels as I think some hot keys, user behavior etc was a bit easier. When I do heavy simulations or renderings, I boot in boot camp. But for most use the parallels version is just fine even with muilticore usage. I have 16gb ram and 4(8 with HT) cores and have assigned 12gb ram and 6 cores to parallels..…

Comment on: Topic 'Shortest Walk Across Planar Surface'
hat well known classic paper attached describes an algorithm that ... er ... works "when it works". Therefore the C++ upon request ... well ... Unfortunately I'm not willing to share my C# on that matter. Other than that routing using accurate and real-time fast medial/straight stuff is indeed critical in too many design areas (nothing to do with roofs and the likes) but not in ones related with walks in urban layouts. For instance imagine optimum infrastructure solutions where the cost per m is much much higher than one could imagine.…

Comment on: Topic 'Is the forum buggy?'
ously press the button several times. Obviously the Ning forum doesn't have any saveguards to automatically detect double posting. Or it should have a posting limit of say 1 post per minute. Doesn't seem to be the case or is not configured right. A troll/spammer could flood this forum with no problems it seems. As I said before I believe that the forum and whole Grasshopper website is in dire need of a visual, functional and technical overhaul! edit: happened just now posting this reply as well. It only started happening recently, as well as that weird google translate bar always popping up even if I deactivate it.…

Comment on: Topic 'Error in the Python script'
tested only on Rhino 5. It does not mean that it will not work on Rhino 6, but at the moment I we are not able to provide the support for Rhino 6. For Ladybug "Terrain Generator" component: it is using free access to Google Maps APi. It is limited to certain number of elevation points, that you can "ask for".That is why it fails to generate the terrain data.So you can either decrease the radius, or decrease the accuracy by lowering the "_numOfTiles_", "_numOfDivisions_" inputs. Also for the lower accuracy but larger radii, you can use the Gismo "Terrain Generator" component instead.…

Topic: I'd like to know the code, script or commercial software to generate interlocking assembly from arbitrary model
3&Itemid=44 In this work, they used "interlocking assembly" with some junction parts. I would like to know about software, rhino script or grasshopper script for generating juction parts or interlocking assembly automatically. If anyone who have this kind of information, please share for this group. The one of software that I used is Pepakura designer. But this is only for paper. Pepakura is not optimized for acryl, steel and aluminium. (Hard material) (If you interested in Pepakura type "pepakura" at the Google)…
