Comment on: Topic 'Total number of GH users worldwide?'
oaded grasshopper and used it once or twice, but the learning curve is steep and becoming proficient is even more difficult. Not to mention all the related plugins/platforms and/or coding. So of the people I know I'd say about 20% of users (or less) who start stick with it more or less. And I'm taking about young people. As can be seen in Alexa, those are the ones that use it most; or at least they log into grasshopper3d.com more. …

Comment on: Topic 'shell forms by linear elements.'
you need, you might check some structural engineering Handbook (I recommend the one by Wai-Fah Chen. It has some pretty nice part on space frames). Or check the google for some online material. If it's the second thing you are looking for then you could check the single layered space frames video tutorial in here. Or double layered in here. Just pipe all the curves, once you done with the tutorial.…

Comment on: Topic 'Call GH from C# code'
't add any new components but which does sit inside Grasshopper and can respond to outside calls. How you solve this (writing/reading files, WCF, servers, Google App Engine, ...) is up to you and probably depends on what sort of things you can do from the other end of this system. If you have specific questions about how to load files, trigger solutions and harvest data, I can help with those. -- David Rutten david@mcneel.com Tirol, Austria…

Comment on: Topic 'Orient Surface to Camera Definition (ideal for entourage in architectural rend…'
oCam directly tracks the camera so I made a version with that. The definition uses the populate geometry component to generate random points on anything. It then moves the curves to theses points and orients them. I internalised a few outlines of people so it should run on any rhino file. There are a few more details to it, but I am in a rush and am sure you guys can figure it out so enjoy…

Comment on: Topic 'Pain Points in Grasshopper'
ed to make Pick&Choose between Flatten and Shift Path Path Mapper should accept inputs.Because sometimes I simply don't know the tree structure upfront. IndexOfTheLastListItem would save so much -1s! Touchscreen-friendly Grasshopper Simultaneous/collaborative editing of a definition over the internet (like Google Docs or Prezi) and yet again - thanks! Jan…

Comment on: Topic 'A simple dodecahedron'
in color and framed.  (They look good.)  Maria found the dual snub hexpropello dodecahedron through a Google search and she wants to make it because it's complicated and pretty--that's her initial motivation.  Since I'm a novice, I reasoned that because there are so many parts, we'd be better off programming it.  (If I was wrong to think that, please tell me.)  Now we are both learning new things and that's exciting.  What I'm trying to say is that I think the next generation of math students is starting now--and it's pretty cool.  It may be a week before I can post an update.  I'll keep you in the loop.   Judson …

Comment on: Topic 'Sun Path'
). 2. Check the attached file for Hong Kong's sunpath. There are a number of tutorials on sunpath if you google for Ladybug sunpath which should help you to get started. The one that I recorded is pretty old and the component has changed meanwhile. …

Comment on: Topic 'boolean ball collisions'
s that engulf - or not - some topology) ... well this is the end of the path (in most of cases). In solid modelling this is just the beginning. Google for instance: Siemens NX to experience first hand what I'm talking about - or watch the demos related with the out of this world solid "modification" capabilities AND speed. Of course this is utterly unfair for Rhino since it's not designed to beat NX or CATIA and in any case it works within a totally different market segment - not to mention a "certain" price gap. Having worked with pretty much everything out there many years I would say that Rhino is a very good surface modeler at a very reasonable price.…

Comment on: Topic 'Discussion: Accuracy of Daylight simulations with no wall thickness?'
o change the ghenv values, other than that, I think it is fairly stable. The icon isn't royalty-free (got it from google image search), so you might have to change that too. I have tried to make the coding-style Honeybee-esque, although there are likely to be some redundancies in it. I am somewhat confused by the Github lingo and rules, so I will leave that to you. The idea for the component wasn't mine to begin with anyway.. (Let me know how the Photometry thing works out.. I haven't played with it myself in a month or so)…
