Comment on: Topic 'Can I specify a material and its properties Karamba?'
e material I want.  There are some command I don't understand inside the csv file, just wonder if you know how to read time and edit them?  e.g. for the data of concret :  #;;;;;;;;#;;;E;G;gamma;alphaT;fcd;my#;family;name;[kN/cm2];[kN/cm2];[kN/m3];[m/(mC°)];[kN/cm2];[-]#;"according to EN 1992-1-1; revision 2009-07-01:";;;;;;;;Concrete;Concrete;3100;1291.67;25;1.00E-05;1.67;0.2;Concrete;C12/15;2700;1125;25;1.00E-05;0.8;0.2;Concrete;C16/20;2900;1208.33;25;1.00E-05;1.07;0.2;Concrete;C20/25;3000;1250;25;1.00E-05;1.33;0.2;Concrete;C25/30;3100;1291.67;25;1.00E-05;1.67;0.2;Concrete;C30/37;3300;1375;25;1.00E-05;2;0.2;Concrete;C35/45;3400;1416.67;25;1.00E-05;2.33;0.2;Concrete;C40/50;3500;1458.33;25;1.00E-05;2.67;0.2;Concrete;C45/55;3600;1500;25;1.00E-05;3;0.2;Concrete;C50/60;3700;1541.67;25;1.00E-05;3.33;0.2;Concrete;C55/67;3800;1583.33;25;1.00E-05;3.67;0.2;;Concrete;C60/75;3900;1625;25;1.00E-05;4;0.2;;Concrete;C70/85;4100;1708.33;25;1.00E-05;4.67;0.2;;Concrete;C80/95;4200;1750;25;1.00E-05;5.33;0.2;;Concrete;C90/105;4400;1833.33;25;1.00E-05;6;0.2;#;;;;;;;;; DO you know what does [#;;;E;G;gamma;alphaT;fcd;my] stand for? what is E? Topic: My wish list
way everything is consolidated and people can share their thoughts. 1. Cluster rollover tips Id like to be able to create rollover help text for each cluster input. This could be a right click thing once the cluster is created or something specified before creating the cluster (a string input for the cluster input arrows?) 2. Disconnect all outgoing I'd like to be able to right click on an output of any component and disconnect all wires coming out of it. 3. Disconnect all selected It would be cool if you could disconnect all incoming or outgoing wires from all currently selected components (instead of just one at a time). 4. List item dynamic slider There has been a lot of discussion about dynamic range sliders and the issues that they would cause. Id like one specifically for list item selection. This would be an integer slider that would have a range of 0 to the list length-1. If the range remaps and the previous value is no longer available, I think it's best to have the current value stay as close to the previous value as possible. 5. Cluster slider/toggle inputs I think it could be valuable to cluster a series of variable inputs (like sliders or toggles) to make a sort of options cluster. In this case you could just have a list of sliders and toggles each connected directly to a cluster output arrow, select all and create your cluster. This would be great with the value list component as well. 6. Have a component that could output the x and y location of actual components on the canvas relative to the top left corner... Not sure exactly what you could do with this but I think someone could do something interesting with it. 7. 3d MD slider. I see the option is greyed out and don't see a way to activate it... Still under development? Seems like it could be just like the color picker. Would be cool. That's all I can think of right now. I'm sure there will be more to come in the future. Feel free to comment. -Brian…

Comment on: Topic 'Rhino Commands not Available in GH...'
are several reasons why not all commands are available as components: Sometimes it makes no sense. Grasshopper doesn't have selections, layers, dimensions, data attributes or views, so commands like SelClosedCurve, CopyToLayer, MatchProperties, SetObjectName, PerspectiveAngle, DimOrdinate etc. would be meaningless. Sometimes is it not possible. Not all commands in Rhino use algorithms that are exposed in our SDK. FilletEdge, CurveBoolean, MatchSrf, BlendSrf (to name just a few) cannot be used from within a plugin (short of actually running the command, which is a major pain in the ass for the developer). This is a deficiency we're trying to rectify, for Rhino5 and 6 and beyond we're trying very hard to remember to make our algorithms available to every developer. Sometimes it doesn't seem to add much value. Grasshopper is used for different purposes than Rhino. That is also why Grasshopper has some components that do not have a corollary in Rhino. Do people really need a _Torus component? _TCone? If a command can be accomplished by stringing together 3 or 4 other components, would that not be a better solution if it's not needed that often? Sometimes there is no good reason. We have a limited amount of man-power at our disposal, all of Grasshopper core and all the native components are written by just one guy. This may change in the future, but it simply takes time to add features and there are a lot of features to add. -- David Rutten david@mcneel.com…

Topic: triangulation using only equilateral triangles?
d having the entire surface adjust while maintaining equilateral triangles.  The closest solutions I've come across are the equilateralize and shell and plate examples for Kangaroo (images below), but I don't think the definition in the equilateralize demo will work because I don't always want 6 triangles around each vertex (I want a range from 4 to 7.)  The shell and plate example seems more promising, but when I open it in rhino/GH it says the C# component is old, and the code is missing.  Also, the shapes I'm trying to model are much less spherical than the mesh in the demo, so I'm not sure if that method will work anyway.  I'm also posting an image of some physical models that show what I'm going for. Any advice would be much appreciated! …

Comment on: Topic 'to be best in grasshopper what do we need to know or what are requirments'
your own business, it does. (2) A experimental sense of strategy, that geometry and mathematics contain an answer, damn it, and only once you delve into Platonic reality in your own mind and in math/science journal articles will you then gladly suffer Grasshopper, so "slow down to speed up." One elegant strategy avoids a lot of spaghetti. (3) A sense of humor, since Rhino 6 / Grasshopper 2 are not here yet and existing Rhino 5 / Grasshopper 1 were never designed to accommodate the fantastic dreams of a generation of inventors. And there's no manual either, ha! This forum is the manual. …

Comment on: Topic 'Error: Invalid Cast: Number >> List'1'
h 11 returns two values, and the lists with 10 and 6 return one.  In any case, I changed the logic a bit. Check it out in the other vb component.  The idea is just to check if the list is odd or even first with the Mod operator.  If the lsit is odd, return the middle item in the list as you have set it up.  If the list is even, return the mid items also in the same way as you have set it up.  I am attaching the edited .gh file, a Class1.cs file which shows in C# how I set up the component (translated vb code will follow), and the .gha I built from it.   The logic should be a bit easier to follow in this version.  Check out the edited vb component in the definition for a 'translated version.'   Apologies for the C# ness...I currently do not have Visual Studio Express installed, just Visual C# express.  This one is converting just fine to:   Dim list As New List(Of Object)()Dim out_v As New List(Of Object)()Dim out_i As New List(Of Integer)()If Not DA.GetDataList(0, list) Then    ReturnEnd IfDim val As Object = list(Convert.ToInt32(Math.Floor(Convert.ToDouble(list.Count / 2))))Dim i As Integer = Convert.ToInt32(Math.Floor(Convert.ToDouble(list.Count / 2)))If (list.Count Mod 2) Then    out_v.Add(val)    out_i.Add(i)Else    out_v.Add(val)    out_i.Add(i)    out_v.Add(list(i + 1))    out_i.Add(i + 1)End IfDA.SetDataList(0, out_v)DA.SetDataList(1, out_i)…

Comment on: Topic 'Feature Request - Cluster activity'
riable input/output would also have to execute the clusters again, so I don't quite see where the gain is here. In fact if you open the cluster, make all the changes you want and then close it again, you'll only have to recalculate once, whereas adding 3 inputs via the ZUI would recalculate 3 times right away and once more after you've changed the cluster to hook up the new inputs. This would be speed up the ability to work fluidly with clusters rapidly. I still don't see it making a lot of difference, but I could well be missing something. What's wrong about this list of steps for doing it now: Double click cluster. Navigate to where you want to add new hooks. Add hook (either from the toolbars, or by copy/pasting existing ones, or by double click search) Connect hook to relevant parameter. This will cause a new intra-cluster solution which may take some time to complete. Repeat 2+3+4 until satisfied. Close and Save Cluster. This will cause a new extra-cluster solution which may take some time to complete. Connect new inputs with relevant parameters in the parent document. Each new connection will cause a new solution, which may take some time to complete. compared to this list of steps that you are suggesting: Zoom in on cluster. Click on the (+) symbols to add inputs. Each click will result in a new solution, which may take some time to complete. Double click cluster. Navigate to where the new input hooks were created (you don't know exactly where, so if the cluster is large, this may take some searching). Probably move the hook to a more meaningful location. Connect hook to relevant parameter. This will cause a new intra-cluster solution which may take some time to complete. Repeat 4+5+6 until satisfied. Close and Save Cluster. This will cause a new extra-cluster solution which may take some time to complete. Connect new inputs with relevant parameters in the parent document. Each new connection will cause a new solution, which may take some time to complete. Unclustering is indeed a useful feature. It used to exist I think back during the first cluster iteration. I suppose all the components to the right of the cluster would have to be moved further to the right to avoid overlapping components once the cluster has been exploded. But then it would also make sense to move components to the left when you make a cluster, so this could be reasonably two-way too. -- David Rutten david@mcneel.com …

Comment on: Topic 'Ladybug Analysis Tools in 2017!'
to be rewritten right? Maybe we could help at some point? I think this would be a good opportunity for developers to learn the inner workings of LB/HB. I'm particularly interested in participating. 2. I've been browsing through the code of HB+ (I'm assuming it's this: https://github.com/ladybug-analysis-tools/honeybee-plus), and I have to say that it looks really great with all the docstrings, PEP8 and even its own API documentation.  I was wondering if this is meant to work with a later version of GhPython/GH/Rhino (Rhino 6 maybe?). I remember from your video tutorials for developers... you've mentioned that at the moment, sc.sticky was used instead of import libraries due to some reasons. For some reason, we're going the normal way of development. Maybe it's related to the upcoming Rhino 6? (I remember something like GH would already be part of Rhino with a better Python implementation or something like that).…
