From this image, I thought you went into a load of work to stretch each string when they don't even work structurally. Then I I saw from the other images that's it's a single string and quite clever ;)
It looks like sewing string. Why didn't you use a stronger string? Nylon for example.
They have a structural purpose. The upper plate balance on the column and are kept in place by the strings. But it's just a concept model and the sweing string is quite neat to work with.
