Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I am trying to set up Silkworm to work with my Replicator 2 as part of a 3d vector printing research project at SCI-Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture).

However I am having an issue with making a custom .ini configuration file.

For example when I change the bed size and load the file in the definition, the bed preview looks like it is still referencing the Prusa config file.  Is this just a visualization issue or will this affect the Gcode?

Please let me know how to work around this issue.

Meanwhile I will try to run the Gcode and see what happens.

Thanks,

Nikita

Update:

After converting the Gcode from Silkworm to x3g in ReplicatorG, I had no success running the program.

4 big issues:

1- the virtual bed doesn't match the actual bed and the printer head wants to go out of bounds.

2- the bed does not move at all (Z)

3- the printing and extrusion speeds are much slower than specified in Silkworm

4- I am unable to control the temperature of the extruder (modifying the config file doesn't do anything)

I modified the Gcodes manually by augmenting them with some of makerbot's gcodes and mcodes which fixed a couple issues (temperature & z movement) but I am still unable to print within the beds bounds.

Please give me some suggestions.

Any update? Did you find out a way to make Silkworm work properly with the Replicator?

I am also curious if you already managed, as I am starting to try the same now....?

After a quick look at some example files and changing the .ini file silkworm doesn't seem to take the bed size changes from the .ini file at all....maybe the prusa settings are internalized to the other components?

Changing nozzle diameter and layer height in the .ini file affected at least the z steps and extruder values.....
x and y are staying the same......

Hi Nikita, Did you manage to do this? I am now also experimenting with this kind of idea.
