hi hannes,

very nice plugin ....in case you are planning more updates ;) it would be great to be able to export ("bake") mxs files ... (connected to boolian switch or number slider) for animation and batch processing !

many thanks !

Hi Hannes,

Such a nice plugin! Thank you so much. I have a suggestion for the next update.

This is really nice that materials get updated real time. I was wondering if you want to automate the geometry update in your component too.

I'm talking about the process of deleting the old geometry (if any), baking the updated geometry with maxwell materials, and then render it. So as soon the user changes the geometry in GH it will change the mesh in maxwell Fire render.

I attached the Python script that I used to automate the two steps that I said however I have to manually bake the geometry from your component by right clicking on the component.

In any case it will be a good idea to add a trigger to your components so there will be no need to right click on the component to bake the geometries each time.

Hi!

Thanx Hannes for this great plugin!

I'm pretty new in rendering with maxwell and I wonder if it's possible to load directly a .mxm file in scarab?

Or do we have to recreate each material from the .png or .jpeg layers?

There are a lot of materials (.mxm) without png or jpeg layers in the default library and I don't know how to do to use them in grasshopper...

Thank you very much

Hi Hannes,

Great stuff! And right on time! I started working on an IES file generator a couple days ago.

You may know IESGen 3 and 4... well for those who don't...

This software is great but you can only create symmetric lights, and it's a bit difficult to draw smooth curves. Just miss a refit command...

So I thought I could generate a mesh with gh. Should be easy. Didn't have much time to work on this yet...

There are crucial choices to make in regard to the way you interact with the curve. I just made a try with attractors but I'm not really satisfied. Any ideas would be welcome.

\edit..

By the way, can you include the material id color and the object id color? It's really a nightmare I always forget to set them right and there can be so many of them!
