algorithmic modeling for Rhino

well, I have finished my geometry (finally) and I´m trying to panelize the module (benchs and table) in order to assemble with the other module.

I tried to do by using box planes, and then doing a boolean operation, but it´s doesn´t work. I know that with the planes can get out the sheets, but I want to have the laminated model for doing a perfect assembly and make renders in 3d max.

Can you give me some guides for doing that operations, because i lost the whole evening looking for ways to do, but i didn´t find anything.

Thanks

Hi Jose Abel,

Yeah, the box+boolean way is very very 'unfino'! Don't go that way!

Please check the thread and files of the other Jose Abel and his ribbed bench, you will find a lot of useful information there:

Come back if you are still not sure about it.

Cool table and benches by the way! Post some screenshots!

Hello Jose Luis.

First of all, thanks for your guides, I´ve checked the files of abel and it resolved a lot of doubts to me. But I have another one.

When I do the division in ribs, after doing a mirror, don´t take all the model and I don´t no why?? I checked the list but i can´t find the error.

Can you help me???

Hi Jose Abel,

You had a problem with your modelling, in how two surfaces had an open seam between them:

An easy workaround this is (after flattenning everything), doing boolean join on the not-joining surfaces and then joining the BRep:

Keep going, and remember that you will need to close the surface on the bottom side (create a 'floor') if you wan to have closed cuts and be able to generate closed ribs.

hello again, well, I´ve changed the whole geometry and now everything work correctly. Now I want to remove half of the ribs for doing the asembly but several things is happening.

I tried using a different mathematical operations for dividing the planes and place between the primary planes, but don´t recognize those planes and doesn´t work.

Maybe could be by the dimesions of the "bounding box", but in don´t know how tu fix that problem, can you help me?

Thanks.

P.D: I´m sorry for my stupid questions ;)

Hi Abel,

Could you be a bit more specific about what is exactly your problem? Could you post a GH file with explanations wherever you have the problem, and the base rhino file?
