Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello everyone! Octopus is a GREAT tool and it has helped me a lot in the last few weeks to optimize a facade I'm working on. Installed the latest - 0.3.6 and it’s amazing. Thank you.

But... I have a few issues with the tool that I want to better understand:

first off, I'm not quite sure when "record history", "record solution meshes”, “record interval” and more “history” and “record” elements relate to Solution Meshes previewed in the Octopus viewport or the Solution meshes saved as Phenotypes.

I thought that checking “record solution meshes” or setting “record interval” will save the calculated meshes as mesh data to be extracted from the “phenotypes” plug but unfortunately still only the last generation is saved there. Maybe I’m missing something?

(See attached image 1)

Another issue is when I click “Reinstate Solution” all the saved meshes in “phenotypes” are deleted and new ones are not able to generate. Only by closing and re-opening grasshopper it is able to save new results.

(See attached image 2)

And one last tiny problem. No matter what I do, when I activate “animate during evaluation” it only creates a folder “octopus live animation” but doesn’t save any images in it. Only by activating “capture on viewport update” it saves the images in the “octopus captures” folder.

Everything else works perfectly which makes me think I misunderstood the functions of some buttons. I just want to save all the generations and meshes to analyze, evaluate and present each option. (And doing a cool animation in the process never fails to impress the clients and co-workers ;) )

Thank you for the help and the great tool!
