Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello Guys.

I'm struggling with the addHBGlz component it looks that is not adding the glazing at all. So my DF values are all 0.

I've attached the GH def and internalize Breps. The weather file is a component (Open EPW and STAT files) wrote by Chris Mackey.

Thank you

Hi Claudio,

There are couple of minor issues in your file which cause the model not to run correctly.

1. You don't need to use Add glazing to add glazings when you use glazingBasedOnRatio. It has been already added to the surface.

2. You are applying glazing materials with 0 transmittance to the glasses and that's what makes DF results 0. If you don't know properties of the glass just leave it as it is and Honeybee uses the default values. Are you willing to change the glass properties?

2-1. Name the materials so they don't overwrite each other as "noName".

Check the attached file.

Hi Mostapha.
first of all, let me,thank you for the time you take to answer our questions. I REALLY appreciate your help. The software you wrote its really helping us achieve better architecture.

regarding my question. Yes we will require to change the glazing properties in,order to obtain certain heat gain vs natural light for classrooms, specially for winter time. I'll try to,post our progress once this project is not confidential any more

I was wondering if there is any way to simulate the use of blinds or shades with a certain transparency value

thank you again for your help

cheers
Claudio

Hi Claudio,

You are welcome. That is great to hear as that is the main intention behind the whole development of Ladybug: (http://www.ibpsa.org/proceedings/bs2013/p_2499.pdf)

Yes. You can model them similar to any other surface in your model. Just model the shadings as surfaces and then assign either translucent material or transparent material (glass) to them and connect them to runDaylight with other Honeybee objects. Is that make sense?

Make sure to use appropriate numbers for -ab, -ad and -aa. Check page 27 of Daysim tutorial for a an example for parameters (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16228160/Daysim3.0.Tutorial.pdf). I should add that the numbers are slightly high in the example though. Here is another reference if you want to know more about RAD parameters: http://www.radiance-online.org/community/workshops/2011-berkeley-ca...
