algorithmic modeling for Rhino

My question is,

How can I do a CrossSeletion of my beams, using the CrosRangeSelector ( I need O shaped, I put the sliders of the diameter) knowing the max Displacement of the structure?

I know that the beam with the max lenght can do the max diplacement of the structure. From there i can get a value and  I do the assemble, the the analyse then at the model View How can I tell it not to go above the value of displacement I Know I can't got further? I don't know if I'm clear enough...

Do I need to use Galapagos? do I use the maximise option or the minimized?

Can i get some Help pls??

What I'm doing wrong? I'm trying to make Karamba choose the best Crossection for a max displacement of 10cm. A tubolar Beam. Pls I need some help here......

Dear Alexia,

I think the reason why the displacement target can not be reached is that your structure is roughly 250m large and the only applied load is gravity. Each time the Cross Section optimizer increases a cross section it increases also the external load and convergence can not be reached.

In the attached definition I added a uniform line load and set gravity to 0. Now the displacement target can be met with the standard cross sections.

In order to make the structure work with gravity enabled, try to define your own family of circular hollow cross sections which goes beyond the standard. Another possibility would be to use a space grid instead of a single layer grid shell.

Best,

Clemens
