Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey all -

I am having a very strange issue with the latest version of GH and the latest version of kangaroo. I have a definition, created in an earlier version of GH, that works fine when I open it. The kangaroo component runs and performs the expected behavior. However, when I select all, copy, and paste the exact same setup into a new, blank definition, (or even a second time in the same definition) the kangaroo component fails to work. It does not turn red, and counts up iterations, but none of the points or associated geometry move at all.

Any thoughts?

Are you changing the Kangaroo settings ?

There is a known issue with changing settings via the dropdown menu when you r-click the settings input - they do not get saved properly with the file (and don't get copy pasted properly).

However, if you use the actual settings component and put it on the canvas (these are just 2 ways of controlling exactly the same settings) then the values do get saved (and pasted)

I'm using the settings component, with external number inputs for all non-default values. I'm using a pretty small time step (.001) with a lot of subiterations (100).

In any case, I've got it working now - I think there was something larger wrong with my definition to begin with. The mystery is not why it failed on copy-paste but why it worked at all in the first place.
