Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

HI all!!

I'm using GSA to make structural analysis on free-form ..
I can easily build the geometry mesh in gh and split it evenly, but I would understand if there is a way to optimize the mesh for structural analysis.

I would like to analyze the mesh in a non-uniform, but varies in density in the most critical parts (bending, openings, etc.).

thanks

Hi Luca,

It is possible to get acceptable mesh from rhino for analysis (with some tweaking of the custom settings) but the mesher is really prioritized for render mesh rather than analysis.

I've been looking at enabling an external mesher that is used by at least one finite element program I know of, but it's not been straight forward yet (note it would slow down the grasshopper definition if you use it there).  Keep an eye on the blog for any progress on this.  If you have a sample surface, I'll take a quick look to see if I can suggest acceptable meshing settings.

Cheers,

Jon

Thank you Jon!

Ill send u my geometry when it is ready to check ;)
