Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I just uninstall old DIVA and install the new V2.0 one .

Then I notice that I cant move DIVA's Component smoothly . This didnot happen with V1.9.

What is worse , I place one Daylight component and then delete it , Rhino crash .This happened again and again .

What's wrong here ? Thanks for helps .

when I click the Location button of DIVA toolbar in rhino .I got this message:

Command: ProjectInfo
Error: Please save your Rhino file before continuing.

what's wrong here ??anyone ??

Hi aLpha, you have to name your rhino file before running a simulation so that DIVA can use that name to create a folder for the simulation files and a results folder. These files can be read with a text editor if a user is wondering what specific data was delivered to the Radiance or EnergyPlus engine. If it is untitiled, DIVA doesn't where the rhino file is. If the rhino file is saved, then you can open it later and review past simulation results and run new simulations faster if some of the simulation data can be re-used (like daylight coefficient files which are time consuming but can be re-used if the geometry hasn't changed).

Hope that helps.

OK. I see .

I was told to "save your rhino file " but I donot know why I just ignored the warning .Thanks for let know why I have to save file first .

Thanks for reporting this bug, deleting the daylight component crashes my rhino as well. We will look into it.

Hi Alpha,

As I responded before- it is a known bug. If you keep placing a the component and deleting it before doing anything with it you will get rhino to crash over and over. It has been fixed and will be updated with the next grasshopper component release (v2.002) probably released next week. You can avoid the crash entirely by first clicking on the settings component first. The problem was an undefined variable. So you can use the current component and delete it if you just click on the settings button first, after the next release you can delete the component as often and whenever you want.

As for the smoothness, is this happening with other grasshopper components? I have not been able to reproduce it on my system.

Hi Jeff,

Good to know this trick, thanks .

No, other componets are fine .

And do you have paid any attention on the "smothly move component" problem ? It happens sometimes on script component .but not very often about third part grasshopper assemby .

Hi Jeff ,

DIVA told me to update one new version .I can move DIVA component smothly now .Would DIVA access the internet when putting one first DIVA component ?It seems that putting first DIVA component need more time .

And new version seems great !
