average or total solar irradiation...and judging the result

are the kWh/m2 values out of the daylight analysis component the average or the total values?

are there some lists to look for "normal" values? i cannot judge the values....

I mean, I want to analyse the interior of a building about its direct solar irradiation, and depending on the resulting values i want to decide if there is a sunshade system necessary or not.
