algorithmic modeling for Rhino
There have been reports that installing both the 64-bit and the 32-bit versions of the C++ Runtimes fixes this problem on certain machines. You could try that: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347
The files in question are vcredist_x86.EXE and vcredist_x64.EXE. Do the 64-bit one first (if you haven't already) and the 32-bit one only when that doesn't work.

hi david,
from what i can gather it is the other way round.
this usually happens as a result of people installing the required 32 bit version as requested then still having the error they try and install the other ones through desperation but nothing they do fixes it. then they come on here and and get told to make sure they have installed the correct 32 bit version which they do and it suddenly works.
so the way i see it it is 64 then 32
Ok, I changed my post to swap the versions. It's absolutely bonkers that this should be the case, but if this is the way to fix it.... this is the way to fix it.

I should add this also seems to be largely a mac/bootcamp/vmware/paralleles issue.
Ok, so it seemed to be a combo of wonky parallels and 32-bit. Uninstalling everything, then reinstalling the 32-bit update, rhino, and grasshopper in that order everything worked on the third try. Not a perfect fix, but at least its running now.
Thanks for the help.
Thanks for posting your results.
The advice for Running Rhino for Windows on a Mac is to use Bootcamp as any VM set up is unsupported by McNeel because of all the issues.
