rest API tie-in

my apologies if this is covered already somewhere in the forum: What is the best way to connect grasshopper to a RESTful web API like shapeways' or ponoko's and are there any examples? Thanks!

I am also interested in this, but for internal use. Does it make sense to use/build restful APIs for connecting grasshopper and intranet services?
