Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi David,

Thought I'd mention the fact that when trying to get an image of the wonderful Info mode locators all I got was this.

and considering I had to hit the PrtScn button with my nose I was a little disappointed.

I was however able to use the PSPX screen capture but this meant missing the pink arrow off

Hi Danny,

those little info widgets are three floating windows on top of the Grasshopper window. Therefore you cannot use the special Alt+PrintScreen mode that only takes the active window. Here's what you do:

- Press and hold Ctrl+Alt

- Mousedown over a component, the info windows show up

- Release Ctrl and Alt (the windows should stay up while the mouse remains down)

- Press PrintScreen (I have to use my left hand and nose as well, due to the laptop keyboard)

this is an unfortunate effect since Info mode requires Alt while Printscreen requires not Alt. I can imagine three solutions for this:

1) I change the key-combo so it no longer involves Alt

2) I make it so that when you press Ctrl+Shift+Alt, info more sticks around after you release the keys and mouse buttons (probably use Escape to switch it off for good)

3) I can make it so that when you press Ctrl+Shift+Alt, info modes kicks in and you get an immediate screenshot image placed in the windows clipboard.

I think 3 would be best, your opinion?

I agree I think immediate Clipboard addition is a good way to go.

Looks like I cannot guarantee that an image with alpha channel survives the clipboard bottleneck. I'll offer a Save Image As dialog instead after Ctrl+Alt+Shift+MouseDown so you can put the png away yourself.
