Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Whenever I add an image sampler component and declare an image file, Rhino/Grasshopper becomes unresponsive.

Force quitting is also ineffective as well as ending task in the task manager or ending the process. The rhino process is not using CPU resources and I can start another process of rhino. Also the rest of the system seems to operate normally. I can shut down and restart.

This event takes places even if the image sampler is the only component on the canvas and it seems to happen with even small images (100x100).

I'm running Rhino 5 and Grasshopper 0.9.0014

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Darrin,

Any image? Can you upload it (don't insert it as an image, use the Upload Files link at the bottom of the Reply field)?

Yes. So far any image. Attached was the one I was most recently testing.

David,

Thanks for looking into this. I think the problem is with running Rhino/Grasshopper in Parallels. I booted directly into Bootcamp (something I haven't done in months) and the component works fine.

It's still strange because I used the image sampler before in Parallels to create my previous profile image and it worked fine. It just stopped working for some reason.

Best,

Darrin

That is pretty strange. Thanks for testing on Bootcamp, I can't find fault with that image on my machine either. Luckily Robert McNeel & Associates officially do not support VMWare and Parallels versions of Rhino so I can stop worrying about this for now. Ahem.
