Without any specific knowledge of ICD's own approach with their pavilion, it does seem somewhat similar to our own. From memory, the key is in generating an initial hexagonal, tri-valent mesh. The planar mesh will share the same topology however we must alter the geometry by relocating the vertices. Find the average planes of each face and then each vertex of the planar mesh can be found by the intersection of the adjacent face-planes at that vertex. The bow-tie shaped faces appear naturally in negative curved areas.
