There are four architects who use grasshopper. Sometimes all four of us need to work off the same 'master gh' file, that contains the majority of the stadium. The biggest issue we come across is the workflow between us as we work. If you have only one person working on the script its fine.

But if one person is say updating the base shape of stadium/or rewriting how it works, while another is working on the structure of the roof. how you combine that back with work people are doing separately on different points of the project... Its obviously never a problem i encountered working alone, but a caveat for you if you plan on sharing the gh duties in your office.

In my experience its best for everybody working in the file to know the rules: Careful colour coding, clear labels, keeping records of what you have changed, and regularly updating to central definition.

Does anybody else have similar experience, sharing definitions/working simultaneously on them?
I don't speak freak deaky dut…tag:www.grasshopper3d.com,2012-09-03:2985220:Comment:6755522012-09-03T15:42:02.145ZDanny Boyeshttps://www.grasshopper3d.com/profile/DannyBoyes

Michael + Ángel,

Thank you both for your interest and response. I believe what you are both getting at is that it might be a good idea to introduce Grasshopper as a tool to cover some of the inefficiencies in an already established workflow. For example, rather than model the entire Auditorium project down to the mill-work in the adjacent lobby, you might focus that extra time generating a definition that allows your team to evaluate the viewing quality/ sight-line obstruction…

I did some research on this the other day and found an article published by SHoP Architects on their blog...

http://www.shopdoes.com/2011/03/21/bih-auditorium-sightlines-study/

Here is another study published by the Design Tech Studio, LMN Tech Studio of LMN Architects...

http://lmnts.lmnarchitects.com/featured/sightlines/

As well as GH as a tool for interior acoustical cladding/ finishes / paneling...

http://lmnts.lmnarchitects.com/fabrication/tcpa-veil/

http://lmnts.lmnarchitects.com/interaction/ledstagelighting/

I haven't had as much success finding precedents where GH was used as a tool in a Residential/ Multi-family design/production workflow, so if anyone is aware of such documentation or is willing to share a personal project I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks again,
