<p>Architecturally speaking contour lines denote points of equal height. I imagine that the geometry (bunny) could be cut up in slices, like a loaf of bread, in the X or Y or Z planes, related to the orthographic projections the bunny occupies.</p>
<p>Now instead of cutting the bunny into slices, we just draw a contour line around the bunny where the cutting would take place.</p>
