This happened to me once as a result of rolling back Windows OS. I found removing the Grasshopper folder completely before installing newer version again was successful. (Note I didn't remove my own user libraries or third-party plugins)

Thank you Danny.

I just tried to removing the grasshopper folder. But no use. And I try to uninstall and re-install the rhino 4 and sr9 and the grasshopper, same problem. May be I must clean all grasshopper infomation in the regedit?

Actually I think I had to uninstall it from the control panel > programs and features and uninstall it from there.

Grasshopper doesn't use the registry at all. Rhino will maintain some strings in there because it needs to know to load Grasshopper.

You should be able to remove all folders from your machine that are to do with Grasshopper. Basically search your HD for Grasshopper.dll or *.gha, then delete the folders those files are in.

I'm a bit worried that the assembly cannot be resolved in the error message. Are you using COFF loading or not? Have a look at the check-box in the developer settings window (use the _GrasshopperDeveloperSettings command to display this window).

Thank you David:

I snap a picture from GrasshopperDeveloperSettings. Any problem?

That's how it's supposed to look. I think your best bet is to search your hard-disk(s) for all files with the *.gha extension. Then delete them all and re-install.

After re-install. It done. But I found the preview-select icon not show on the toolbar. How can refound it?

Hi Yi,

the toolbar was changed. Preview/Enable etc. are now in the canvas menu. Either use the Right-Mouse-Button over an empty spot on the canvas, press the Middle-Mouse-Button anywhere on the canvas or press Space to show the new menus.
