Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone,

I am working on a project for my master thesis and I am trying to simulate the bending of a 2D pattern extruded in Z direction (see the images to understand) when compressive forces are applied on the sides.
I've tried in different manners but still I cannot reach any reliable outcome.
Does someone has any idea of how to do it?

I think that the bars undergoes different kind of forces, someone of them is twisted and someone remains rigid: this is the difficult part of the simulation for me.

I know that Daniel Piker did some great work on auxetic structures but I cannot find something similar to compare and rely on.

Here attached the .gh file and the image.

Thank you very much!

Hey Lorenzo! Did you have any success on developing further the auxetic patterns geometric (  physical ) concept, or did you try even to push further into 3d?

Hi Ayuna,

If you want you can give a look to my final work, it published here:

I hope you can find it useful!
