DESCRIPTION:SMART CITY CONCEPTS\nAccording to a forecast by the United
  Nations (UN), 70% of the world population will live in urban courts i
 n 2050. In addition, the UN warns that the increasing population in ci
 ties can become a serious urban issue, unless citizens reach a balance
  between the social and environmental aspects and among themselves. Th
 e concept of “Smart City” (associated to the concept of “Smart G
 rowth”), is proposed in a social context where infrastructure and po
 pulation of urban areas continue to grow, in many cases, dispro- porti
 onately. Therefore a “Smart City” is the one that uses technologic
 al advances and tools to support and improve the quality of life of it
 s citizens.\n\nBased on the “Smart City” concept, the workshop wil
 l be focused on the analysis, understanding and proposal of this new a
 pproach through the next three steps:\n\nPresentation of three case st
 udies regarding the concept of Smart City in the Urban Public Space de
 veloped in the Master of Advanced Architecture of the Institute for A
 dvanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), specifically in three diffe
 rent streets of Barcelona: Pere IV, Meridiana and Paseo Grácia.\nAppr
 oach to the first visualization tools and based on the mapping concept
  (data collection, interpretation, representation and new analysis str
 ategies).\nTools application over different urban contexts in order to
  understanding the relation between Paris and the smart city concept.\
 nThe workshop results will be published in the collective blog and web
  page, with the goal of amplifying the range of influence of this deve
 loping concept and bring to public view the work of all the people inv
