 ion is now open, here are all the details.\nINTRO\nDesign in contempor
 ary architecture focuses on being evolutionary, temporary, changeable,
  but above all adaptable and customizable to the socio-technological c
 ontexts and to people’s needs. By working in tandem with new technol
 ogies through potentially endless approximations, designers can more e
 asily and precisely ensure that every morphological decision responds 
 to the multiple requirements of different environments.\nGENERAL TOPIC
 S OF REACTION\nREACTION aims to investigate the intersection of the ph
 ysical and the digital world by merging digital fabrication technologi
 es (3D Printing) and Computational Design tools (Grasshopper &amp; add
 -ons).That’s why REACTION team proposes for 2014 two workshops - 140
 1 and 1402 - where these topics will be deeply discussed and explained
 .\nTHE REACTION WORKSHOPS SERIES\nREACTION 1401 (March 2014) will int
 roduce and focus on optimisation processes while the second workshop, 
 REACTION 1402 (June 2014), will start from digital optimisation logic
 s to generate rapid prototyping for the creation of 3d printed physica
 l models.\nREACTION 1401\nThe main goal of REACTION 1401 focuses on un
 derstanding and controlling the logics of genetics or evolutionary alg
 orithms. Those evolutionary solvers apply the principles of evolution 
 found in nature to find an optimal solution to a problem. We will expl
 ore the potentials of those design techniques. Environmental and energ
 etic data will be the main inputs of those processes that will drive o
 ur design choices towards flexible, progressive, interactive solutions
 .\nSOFTWARE & SKILLS\nBasic modeling skills in Rhino and Grasshopper a
 re required.No specific environmental modelling design skills are requ
 ired (although an introductory knowledge of environmental modelling is
  welcome).Participants should bring their own laptop with a pre-instal
 led software. The software package needed has no additional cost for t
 he participant (Rhino can be downloaded as evaluation version, Grassho
 pper and plugins are free). These softwares are subject to frequent up
 dates, so a download link to the version used in the workshop will be 
 sent to the participants a few days before the workshop. The main plug
 ins for Grasshopper that will be used are: Heliotrope, Galapagos, Goat
