SUMMARY:Parametric Modulations V1.0 by rat[LAB]EDUCATION
DESCRIPTION:\n\n// rat[LAB] Delhi Studio // 24 – 25 September 2016\n
 \n// Title\n[Parametric Modulations]v_1.0: Parametric Design & Comp
 utation Workshop\n \n// Level\nBasic & Intermediate (Previous softwar
e skills are not required)\n \n// Agenda\nParametric Design, in the
history of architecture, has defined many rules for current designers
and for future practitioners to follow. One of the strongest aspects t
hat are prominent from this style is ‘geometry’. Arguably, there i
s nothing new about geometry and aesthetics forming the most prominent
aspect of any style or era. The language of any style, in the long hi
story of architecture, is visually defined by geometry or shape, beyon
d the principles that define the core of the style. In the distinguish
able style of parametric architecture, geometry has played and is cont
inuing to play an integral role. And with this fairly young style, the
re are many strings of myths and false notions associated.\n \nThe wo
rkshop aims to provide a detailed insight to ‘parametric design’ a
nd embedded logics behind it through a series of design explorations u
sing Rhinoceros & Grasshopper platforms, along with understanding of d
ata-driven fabrication strategies. An insight to Computational Design
and its subsets of Parametric Design, Algorithmic Design, Generative D
esign and Evolutionary Design will be provided through presentations,
technical sessions & studio work, with highlighting agenda of using da
ta into Hands-on fabrication of a parametrically generated design. A s
trong focus will be made on ‘geometry’ and ‘matter’.\n \n//
Methodology\nWorkshop has been structured to teach participants the us
e of Grasshopper® (Generative modelling plug-in for Rhinoceros) as a
generative tool, and ways to integrate it with Hands-on Fabrication pr
ocess. A strong agenda on ‘geometry’ and ‘matter’ will form t
he focus of the studio with design experimentation through computation
al & parametric techniques, culminating into a manually fabricated wal
l panel using understanding of data-driven design during the course of
  workshop.\n \n\nFor more information visit https://www.grasshopper3d
