SUMMARY:modeLab Strip Morphologies Workshop | NYC
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will introduce participants to the cultural,
  technological, and tectonic domain of parametric design and digital f
 abrication in a fast-paced and hands-on learning environment. Over two
 -plus days, the workshop will investigate the morphology of the ’str
 ip’ by cross-linking developable surfaces and joining strategies. We
  will identify and exploit the constraints inherent in sheet material 
 and High-Force CNC cutting technology to explore and construct highly 
 articulated material assemblies.\n\nRhino, in conjunction with the par
 ametric modeling plug-in Grasshopper, offers the possibility to explor
 e parametric and computational design with unprecedented fluidity. Lev
 eraging this capacity, we have structured this workshop around a serie
 s of architectural design strategies with supporting content to foster
  a fast-paced and productive learning environment. Furthermore, the wo
 rkshop will provide participants with instruction in digital fabricati
 on techniques and direct access to CNC equipment. An optional third wo
 rkshop day is offered to those participants desiring further time to d
 evelop and prototype individual design projects.\n\nAs part of a large
 r online infrastructure, modeLab, this workshop provides participants 
 with continued support and knowledge to draw upon for future learning.
