SUMMARY:modeLab Parametric Design Workshop*** | NYC
DESCRIPTION:***In response to the overwhelming interest in the April P
arametric Design Workshop, we will conduct a second “overflow” wor
kshop later this month. Many of the seats for this workshop are alread
y spoken for so if you would like to participate, please reserve your
seat via the Paypal button below or contact us directly.\nThis worksho
p is a two-day intensive parametric design workshop to be held in Broo
klyn during the weekend of April 28-29, 2012. In a fast-paced and hand
s-on learning environment, this workshop will engage both the conceptu
al as well as technical domains of applied parametric design. Rhino, i
n conjunction with the parametric modeling plug-in Grasshopper, offers
the possibility to explore parametric and computational design with u
nprecedented fluidity. Leveraging this capacity, we have structured th
is workshop around a series of design strategies and case-study exerci
ses with the capacity to generate and control degrees of variation wit
hin fields of entities. Emphasis will be placed on workflows that util
ize constraint-based design, visualization techniques, and environment
al influencers to discover novel and inventive design solutions.\nThis
workshop will consist of a series of instructional lectures, open wor
k sessions, and guided exercises, beginning with an introduction to Al
gorithmic Processes and Computational Geometry. The workshop is struct
ured to foster open discourse surrounding design applications as well
as to allow each participant time to iteratively develop design vignet
tes. As part of a larger online infrastructure, modeLab, this worksho
p provides participants with continued support and knowledge to draw u
pon for future learning. Attendance will be limited to provide each pa
rticipant maximum dedicated time with instructors.\nTopics:- Computati
onal Geometry :: Introduction to Curves, Surfaces, Meshes in Rhinocero
s- Algorithmic Processes :: Input, Processing, Output- Data Structures
:: Lists + Trees- Pressures + Influencers :: Proximity, Image Mapping
, Curvature Strategies- Proliferation + Difference :: Local VS Global
Level Variation- Visualization :: Naming, Analysis, Coloration- Modula
 rity :: Definition Organization, Add-ons, Library Logics\n \n\nFor mo
